When we first started, we just took the seats out of our mini-van and loaded our animals in the back. That was good for two or three alpacas and we were always expecting a "mess" before we got to where we were going. Then came our enclosed utility trailer, but it only had a single axle that wasn't quite as safe for extended highway travel so we limited our outings and show attendance to local venues. We now have a 16' Featherlite dual-axle stock trailer that allows us to travel safely to more distant shows. It is outfitted with thick rubber stall mats and closed circuit TV with infrared camera (low light) to keep track of the animals during the trip. Many times we have space available when we travel to shows and are able to haul additional animals for others. The price charged for this service depends upon the miles and the number, age and gender of the animals hauled. We are not usually able to schedule long trips, but if you need hauling in the Northwest, give us a call and we can give you a quote on providing this service. |
